Gary Cullen is the partner in the firm's pensions team and has a base in both our London and Glasgow offices. He joined the firm as a partner in 1999, prior to which he was a partner in another major national law firm. He specialises in advice relating to contentious and non-contentious pension matters, including pension scheme mergers, changing future pension benefits, pension aspects of corporate transactions, advising on the establishment and winding up of pension schemes, the process involved in pension schemes entering the Pensions Protection Fund, advising trustees and employers on all legal issues facing occupational pension schemes as well as drafting documentation and trustee training. He acts for the pension trustees of large, medium and small size pension schemes, both public and privately owned companies as well as the sponsoring employers.

Gary has been particularly busy of late advising employers as well as trustees on the insolvency aspects of pensions and guiding pension schemes through the Pension Protection Fund assessment period, having acted for the trustees of 2 of the first 3 schemes to go into the Pension Protection Fund, as well as being a regular speaker throughout the UK on this area.

Gary is a member of the firm's Public Sector team.
