Gordon is a partner and head of the Property Department based in our Glasgow office with responsibilities extending to all 4 offices of Maclay Murray & Spens LLP. Direct personal experience in a broad range of commercial property work including acting for institutional investors, property companies, retailers, industrial companies, banks and public sector clients. Examples of major clients for whom a significant amount of work has been carried out include Scottish Enterprise, Prupim/M&G, Cable & Wireless, Doosan Babcock Limited, Aviva, Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited, The Tannen Group Limited, London & Regional Properties. Examples of a variety of property transactions handled are:
- Acted for Scottish Enterprise in relation to all aspects of the development of its National Headquarters and in relation to a number of its major property projects including those at Loch Lomond Shores, Crown Street Regeneration Project, Pacific Quay, Fife Energy Park, West of Scotland Science Park
- Acted for London & Regional Properties in connection with the redevelopment of Cumbernauld Town Centre culminating in the development, funding and letting of The Antonine Centre, Cumbernauld
- Acted for Universities Superannuation Scheme in the acquisition of St John’s Centre, Perth and thereafter acting in relation to all letting and development at the Centre
- Acted for Babcock Limited in the sale and partial leaseback of Westway, Renfrew and continuing to act for them (now named Doosan Babcock Limited) in relation to their property interests there
- Acted for Nottinhamshire County Council in the forward funding commitment of a new Morrison’s superstore in Glasgow
- Acted for clients of Prupim in the co-funding of a phased development of a series of office buildings in Aberdeen
- Acted for Aviva in connection with the development of a new headquarters building for Edinburgh City Council in a transaction involving negotiations and contracts with amongst others City of Edinburgh Council, Network Rail and the whole construction and development team. Thereafter acting in the sale of the completed development
- Acted for a variety of banks and receivers in the disposal of heritable property (including golf courses and associated development land)
