Thomas is an Associate in the Financial Services Group based in our Edinburgh office. Thomas has experience in dealing with a wide range of regulatory matters for offshore and onshore fund managers and advisers, payment and credit institutions, recognised investment exchanges and clearing houses, and other financial services firms. Thomas has particular experience advising firms in the regulated sector on the impact of forthcoming EU and UK regulatory developments, including MiFID II/MiFIR, the AIFMD and the OTC Derivatives Regulation (EMIR).
Thomas also has experience in both public and private M&A transactions, in particular acquisitions and disposals in the regulated sector. Thomas has also acted for issuers and investment banks regarding equity listings on the London Stock Exchange.
Thomas read law at Cambridge University before completing his LPC at Nottingham Law School. Thomas trained at Linklaters LLP in London and Beijing before spending 6 years as an Associate in the London office of US firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton LLP. In 2011 Thomas was seconded for 6 months to LIFFE/NYSE Euronext in London.
