Maria is Director of the firm’s Investment Companies practice based in London, having qualified in April 1998 at City Law Partnership which merged with MMS in November 2004.

Maria has considerable experience of the financial services and capital markets sectors, specialising in advising investment companies (principally closed ended companies and investment trusts but incorporating infrastructure and private equity fund experience) and investment managers on all aspects of their existence. Maria regularly advises on investment company launches; equity securities issues; investment companies’ restructurings and mergers and has also advised on a number of debt issues. Clients include funds based in other offshore jurisdictions such as the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Cayman.

In addition, Maria regularly advises on a wide range of advisory issues relating to the closed ended and asset management sectors, ranging from specific advice on fund agreements to more general corporate governance queries, ongoing regulatory disclosure obligations and the impact of changing legislation in the industry. Maria works closely with the firm’s regulatory team.

Maria is a member of the firm’s Financial Services and Capital Markets groups.
