Melanie is an associate in the EU, Competition and Regulatory Department in the Glasgow office. She studied law at Glasgow University and has a Masters in European and Comparative law from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She worked as a stagiaire at the European Parliament and trained with Maclay Murray & Spens, qualifying in 2005.

Melanie has experience in all aspects of EU and competition law, including cartel investigations, competition compliance, state aid, merger control and export control. She has particular experience in relation to commercial contracts and regularly advises clients on the impact of competition law on IP licensing and distribution, agency and supply contracts.

Melanie completed a 6 month secondment as legal adviser to a leading oil and gas services company, where she gained experience in a wide range of areas including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and international trade issues.
