1 April 2007 Work and Families New maternity and adoption provisions take effect for those whose expected week of childbirth, or expected date of placement with the child is on or after 1 April 2007.
1 April 2007 Statutory Payments Statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay increases.  For info see: Statutory Payments
2 April 2007 Smoking Ban   Smoking ban for enclosed public places will be introduced in Wales.
6 April 2007 Age Discrimination Amendment to make it automatically unfair for dismiss an employee who is exercising, or seeking to exercise his or her right to be accompanied, or to accompany another, at a meeting to request the right to work on beyond retirement.
6 April 2007 Flexible Working for Carers of Adults  The right to request flexible working will be extended to certain carers of adults.
6 April 2007 Information and Consultation of Employees The Information and Consultation of Employees Regulations 2004 will be extended to cover employers with 100 or more employees.  
6 April 2007 Occupational Pension Schemes – Consultation of Employees Regulations requiring employers to undertake consultation before making changes to occupational and personal pension schemes, will be extended to cover those with more than 100 employees

  • 6 April 2007 Public Sector Gender Equality Duty All public authorities must demonstrate that they are promoting equality of opportunity for women and men and that they are eliminating sexual discrimination and harassment.
    30 April 2007 Religion or Belief Implementation of legislation prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief in the provision of goods and services.
    30 April 2007 Sexual Orientation Implementation of legislation prohibiting sexual orientation discrimination in the provision of goods and services.

    1 August 2007 Working Time Weekly working time limits for doctors in training will be reduced to 56 hours.
    1 October 2007 Equality The Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) will be established. This will see a single equality body put in place which will eventually replace the EOC, CRE and DRC.
    October 2007 Data Protection The remaining provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 will come into force. Manual filing systems which existed before 24 October 1998 will be required to comply with the Act
