Dawn Raids
The European Commission has been carrying out inspections for several years. Recently, however, surprise inspections or 'dawn raids' have increasingly been used by the OFT as well as the European Commission. We have therefore launched a new service: our EU & Competition Department's Dawn Raid Task Force.

A dawn raid is never a pleasant experience. Officials arrive unexpectedly at business premises and will start trawling through files, correspondence, e-mail records and so on within an hour or so. When this happens, companies need to respond rapidly with a sufficient number of properly trained lawyers to protect the company's interests. Over thirty of our lawyers have now been trained. And to ensure that they respond with the urgency that the situation demands, we have installed a dedicated number for our competition department (0845 245 0345). On receiving a call, we assemble a bespoke team.
We have also made arrangements with competent and trusted law firms across England, so that our clients across the UK are protected wherever they may be based. We are happy to provide training on how to handle inspections. Prevention is better than cure, however, so we also offer training and advice on how to avoid competition problems arising.
