Final parts of Companies Act delayed until October 2009

The final implementation of the Companies Act 2006 is being delayed until October 2009. Many of the provisions which were to be brought into force in October 2008 will be affected, although some will still be implemented on that date. In particular, it is not yet clear when the new rules on directors’ conflicts of interest will take effect. Full details of the new commencement timetable are expected in December this year, although it has been confirmed that the provisions expected to be brought into force in April 2008 (relating to accounts and reports, audit and company secretaries) will not be affected.
