Gordon qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 1985 and re-qualified as an English Solicitor in 1992. He was assumed as a partner with Thornton Oliver WS of Dundee in 1987 specialising in corporate work. In 1990 Gordon moved to the London office of Bird Semple Fyfe Ireland WS and was assumed as a corporate partner in that firm.
On 1 January 1994 he joined Philip Skerrett to form the niche practice City Law Partnership focussing on corporate and commercial work for key clients. He joined Maclay Murray & Spens as a partner when the firms merged in November 2004. Gordon has a wide range of corporate and commercial experience, particularly in the fund management sector. He has acted in a number of flotations, acquisitions, mergers and reconstructions for both quoted and unquoted companies. Gordon is author of “Private Limited Companies-Formation and Management” and is also editor of the latest edition of the Law of Partnership in Scotland.
