   Graeme Davidson

After qualifying as a Solicitor in Scotland in 1984, Graeme joined Balfour & Manson in Edinburgh, specialising in company law. Graeme then moved in 1987 to Dundas & Wilson where he specialised in financial services work, with particular emphasis on work for the fund management, unit trust and investment trust sectors, carrying out work for, amongst others, investment trusts and their managers, managers and trustees of collective investment schemes, and other providers of financial services and products, including banks and insurance companies.

In 1993 Graeme joined The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, becoming Head of Legal and Regulatory Compliance, Group Compliance. At The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, he advised on a wide range of financial services, compliance and regulatory issues, including matters such as the regulatory impact of the introduction and alteration of products and services, changes to the delivery channels and the acquisition and disposal of businesses and other corporate structure changes. Graeme, a registered foreign lawyer, admitted as a solicitor in Scotland, joined the City Law Partnership from The Royal Bank of Scotland Group in 2002. He joined Maclay Murray & Spens as a partner after the firms merged in November 2004.

Graeme's combination of experience as an external adviser and his experience from his in-house role provides a very useful perspective on meeting the needs of those in the financial services sector from their advisers. He firmly believes that the watchwords “creativity” and “practicality” should be right at the forefront of an adviser's mind in addressing issues and problems and their resolution.

Graeme has, over the years, acted as a part-time tutor in company law at Universities and has sat on committees and working groups of the Law Society of Scotland and professional/trade association bodies in relation to financial services products and services and their regulation.

Graeme is a member of the firm's Financial Services Group.
