Corporate Social Responsibility
The aim of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is to support the community in which we live and work, primarily through employees donating time and money, to local projects and organisations. Action groups have been set up in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London & Aberdeen and organise a number of fundraising activities and project work during the year.
Every year, staff in each of the offices are invited to nominate and vote for their Charity of the Year. Whichever charity is selected will receive all funds raised by that MMS office during the Financial Year. Funds are raised in a whole host of different ways from marathon running and sponsored cycles to (slightly less energetic) dress down and bake sales, with all funds raised for the Charity of the Year being matched by the MMS Charitable Trust. Previous charities have included Macmillan Cancer appeal, Great Ormond Street Hospital, CHAS, Cancer Research and SANDS. Last year the Glasgow office alone donated over £19,000 to the new Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre at Gartnavel.
In addition to fundraising, the CSR committees organise regular volunteering days for staff to come along and get involved with local projects. Previous projects have included painting/gardening/restoration of various local community centres and other environmental projects such as supporting the Water of Leith Conservation Trust with their clean up efforts.
Work Out For Sport is a unique corporate volunteering programme, supported by sportscotland, which matches the skills of volunteers from the business community with sports clubs and organisations to help create stronger, more sustainable clubs. Staff at all levels can participate in this worthwhile programme.
Other regular activities include blood donation drives, harvest collections for homeless charities and donation of Christmas gifts for children to the Women's shelter and also to the Cat and Dog home.
